Life Doesn't Get Messier. It Gets More Complicated.

I've spent most of my life making things.

Some of those things were advertising campaigns.

Some were photographs.

Some were videos.

Some were pottery.

Some were paintings.

Today, one of those things is software.

Looking back, I realize they all started the same way.

I found something that could work better.

People sometimes ask me if retirement is what inspired MyRegistr.

The truth is, I've never been very good at retirement.

I enjoy working.

I enjoy creating.

After our advertising agency closed, I didn't stop creating. I continued doing what I've always loved—design, photography, video production, and solving problems. I've never thought of work as something to escape. For me, creating has always been one of life's great pleasures.

One day I began looking at the life Rita and I had spent decades building.

Not our careers.

Our lives.

Wills.

Insurance.

Investments.

Doctors.

Vehicles.

Passwords.

Important documents.

None of it was disorganized.

There was simply...a lot of it.

That's when a thought occurred to me.

Life doesn't get messier. It gets more complicated.

Every year adds another responsibility.

Another account.

Another decision.

Another document.

Individually, they're easy enough to manage.

Together, they become surprisingly difficult to keep track of.

As a designer, I've always believed good design removes unnecessary effort.

The best solutions often feel obvious once you see them.

So I started asking myself a simple question.

“What would make this easier?”

That question eventually became MyRegistr.

Not because I wanted to build another business.

Because I wanted to build something useful.

I've discovered that organization isn't about having everything perfectly arranged.

It's about removing friction from everyday life.

Less searching.

Less wondering.

Less worry.

More living.

If there's one lesson life has taught me, it's this.

We can't stop life from becoming more complicated.

But we can make it easier to live.
